We will be meeting at the barn on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 8:00 AM and returning at 8:00 PM.
All family members are invited to join us for this outing and are welcome to ride the bus or drive separately. We will be spending the day out on the lake. We are asking that you pack a lunch but dinner will be provided.
Our regular meeting schedule resumes Tuesday, August 18, 2009.
Our meetings usually coincide with the EVSC school year. We will not meet after our November campout until January due to the Christmas Tree Sales. As a reminder, we also hold Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meetings after every weekend activity and ONLY PLC members attend those meetings.
Please refer to the online calendar for the specific dates and times for any activities.
If you are a parent looking for ways to get involved the troop committee meetings are the place to start! Any tasks that need to be completed in order to ensure the boys have a successful yearly program are delegated here and we also have several open committee positions that need to be filled!
We will be meeting in the atrium at the church and finding an empty room shortly before 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Our meetings generally coincide with the Troop’s PLC meetings as posted on the calendar. Committee meetings start at 7:30pm to allow Ray, our scoutmaster, time to consult with the PLC.
All parents are invited to attend any committee meetings throughout the year! If you’re interested in getting involved but can’t make the meeting please let know by filling out the contact form here.
We need volunteers for the following positions. Some positions require more involvement than others.
More information will be provided at the Fall Court of Honor. You can also get more information by requesting it here.
Tree Sale Chair (& Committee) — In charge of tree lots and wreath sales. Our existing “Tree Czar,” John Kemper, will be graduating after this year. This position is time intensive during the months of November and December. If this position is not filled this year the tree lots will not be able to operate next year. The tree sale is currently our primary (85%) source of fund-raising. Filling this position is a critical need.
Popcorn Sale Committee — Currently Chaired by Pam Hirsch. Help is needed with distribution of product and collection of funds. The popcorn sale benefits the national and local councils as well as providing funds for the individual boys to use towards high adventure, equipment, or uniform costs. The fundraiser also provides the Troop with a small amount of funding (5%). This position is focused in the month of October with some preparation done in late September.
Travel Chair –Responsible for reserving campsites, buying advance tickets, and submitting travel permits to the local council. Requires very little time commitment but is a vital function for if the Troop is to have successful outings. Attendance at monthly committee meetings is preferred to facilitate information exchange. Our current chair, Donnie Qualls, will be graduating after this year.
Bus Driver –The troop is in need of an additional bus driver. Our current driver, John Kemper, is graduating at the end of the year. Drivers must have a clean record and be willing to attend outings on a regular basis. A Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement is required. The Troop will pay for licensing fees and the initial drive test for an otherwise qualified driver to obtain a CDL.
Recruitment Committee – Currently headed by David Uhr, our recruitment committee is always looking for ways to recruit more scouts. This group is also in charge of parents introduction/orientation to scouting. Time commitment varies with involvement.
Other Positions may be available or may open at any time. Please don’t hesitate to suggest ways you can help the troop.
Our Fall Court of Honor is rapidly approaching. On September 8, 2009, we will meet at 6:30pm in the Crossroads Atrium for a meal. After the meal we will be recognizing the achievements of all of our Scouts over the last six months.
If you would like to volunteer for a leadership role in this or other activities please let us know by attending our committee meeting August 25, 2009 at 7:30pm. We will need someone to be in charge of the food (Main Course to be paid for by Tree Lot revenues), someone to be in charge of tear-down and someone to head up the clean-up. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to help, please fill out our contact form here.
Summer Camp was a huge hit. To get the details check out the report that two of our dads, Max Smith & David Uhr, created.
We will be holding our Spring Court of Honor on April 7th at 6:30 PM in the gym. Families are invited to accompany their Scouts. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and we should begin our program for the evening around 7:45. We are asking that each family bring a 2 Liter of soda and a dessert dish. Please let Ray know if you have any questions!
